Troubleshooting the ButterflyMX iPhone Widget

Overview

If the ButterflyMX widget is not working on your iPhone, the issue is often related to outdated shortcuts, widget configuration problems, or an outdated version of the app. Recreating the widget and updating the app usually resolves the issue.

The steps below guide you through removing the existing widget, refreshing shortcuts, and setting the widget up again.

Step 1 - Remove Existing Widgets

Start by removing any current ButterflyMX widgets from your home screen.

  • Go to your iPhone Home Screen

  • Find any ButterflyMX widgets

  • Tap and hold the widget

  • Select Remove Widget

Remove all ButterflyMX widgets before proceeding.

Step 2 - Remove Old Shortcuts

Old or outdated shortcuts can prevent the widget from functioning correctly.

  • Open the ButterflyMX mobile app

  • Confirm that you can see all your listed doors

  • For each door previously added as a shortcut:

    • Tap the arrow icon in the top-right corner

    • Scroll to Added to Siri

    • Tap it and select Remove

Step 3 - Restart Your iPhone

Restarting the device helps clear temporary system issues.

  • Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center

  • Tap and hold the Power icon

  • Slide to Power Off

  • Turn the phone back on by holding the power button until the Apple logo appears

Step 4 - Update the ButterflyMX App

Make sure you are using the latest version of the app.

  • Open the App Store

  • Search for ButterflyMX

  • Tap Update if available

If the button says Open, the app is already up to date.

Step 5 - Create a New Shortcut

Next, recreate the shortcut that the widget will use.

  • Open the ButterflyMX app

  • Find the door you want to access

  • Tap the arrow icon next to Swipe to Unlock

  • Scroll down and tap Add to Siri

  • Tap Done to save the shortcut

Step 6 - Add the Widget to Your Home Screen

Now add the widget again.

  • Go to your iPhone Home Screen

  • Tap and hold an empty area until the icons begin to move

  • Tap the + in the top-left corner

  • Search for Shortcuts

  • Locate the ButterflyMX door shortcut

  • Tap Add Widget
