Overview
If you are trying to update your ButterflyMX account to use a landline phone number, you may encounter issues completing the update. This happens because the system requires one-time password (OTP) verification to confirm ownership of the phone number.
Since OTP verification is sent by text message, landline numbers cannot receive the verification code needed to complete the process.
Why This Happens
When updating a phone number in the ButterflyMX app, the system sends a verification code by SMS to confirm that the number belongs to you. This step is required for security reasons.
Because landlines cannot receive SMS messages, the verification process cannot be completed directly through the app.
How to Update Your Phone Number
To update your account with a landline number, you will need to contact your property management team.
Property managers have the ability to manually update resident phone numbers in the ButterflyMX system without requiring SMS verification.
What to Do Next
Contact your property manager or building management office
Ask them to update your phone number to the landline number you want to use
Once the property manager updates your account, the new phone number will be associated with your unit in the system.
Additional Help
If your property manager needs assistance while updating the information, they can contact ButterflyMX support for guidance.
