Overview
If you've received a ButterflyMX Visitor Pass and are having trouble saving it to Apple Wallet, use the steps below to resolve the issue.
Note: You do not need the ButterflyMX app to add a Visitor Pass to Apple Wallet. This process happens entirely through your phone's browser and Apple Wallet.
Re-Open the Pass Link
The Add to Apple Wallet button appears on the Visitor Pass page — not in the ButterflyMX app. Make sure you're accessing it correctly:
- Open the email or text message containing your Visitor Pass.
- Tap the link in the message to open the Visitor Pass page.
- On the pass page, tap Add to Apple Wallet.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete setup.
If the link isn't opening correctly, try copying and pasting it into Safari directly.
Check That Your Pass Is Still Active
The Add to Apple Wallet option may not appear or work if your pass has already expired or hasn't started yet.
- Confirm your pass is within its active date and time window.
- If the pass has expired, ask the resident who sent it to create a new one.
Use Safari on iPhone
The Visitor Pass page is optimized for Safari on iPhone. If you're using a different browser, the Apple Wallet button may not appear.
- Copy the pass link from your email or text.
- Open Safari on your iPhone.
- Paste the link into the address bar and load the page.
- Tap Add to Apple Wallet.
Restart Your iPhone
If the pass link opens correctly but the pass still won't save, restart your iPhone and try again. Temporary software issues can sometimes prevent passes from being added.
Still Having Trouble?
If the issue continues, reach out in one of the following ways:
- Contact the resident who sent you the pass — they may be able to resend it or create a new one.
- Contact ButterflyMX Support through the Help Center for further assistance. If possible, include a short video or screenshots showing the issue you're experiencing.
