Context:

The following article walks you through viewing live and recorded camera footage.

What to do:

• Select a camera to open its Live View. From there, you can remain on the live feed or use the timeline to review recorded footage.

  

Navigate the timeline

1. You can move through recorded footage in several ways:
   • Drag the timeline to scrub to a different moment.
   • Use the date and time controls to open a specific range.

   • Zoom the timeline in to inspect a shorter period or out to navigate a longer period.

     

   • Select an event indicator to jump to the associated footage.

     

   • Hover over an event indicator to preview details about the access event.
2. Purple denotes where recordings are available. White with gray diagonal stripes denotes a gap, where the camera did not record and no footage can be played back or exported.
3. The amount of recorded footage available depends on the property's camera storage duration.
4. Event indicators group together when events occur close in time. The number on the indicator shows how many events it represents.
5. Once you have zoomed in, use the arrow keys to move through footage second by second.

Use playback controls

1. While viewing recorded footage, use the playback controls to:
   • Play or pause the video
   • Skip backward or forward
   • Adjust the playback speed
   • Go to a specific time
   • Digitally zoom in on part of the video
   • Enter full-screen mode
   • Select Go live to return to the current moment.
2. You can use the on-screen zoom control or your mouse's scroll wheel to digitally zoom.

Export camera footage

• After finding the footage you need, you can prepare an export from a single camera or multiple cameras. 

  

• To export footage:
  1. Select Prepare export.

  2. Drag the start and end markers to choose the exact time range.

     

  3. Review the video while adjusting the markers to confirm the beginning and end of the export.
  4. Select the cameras you want to include. Exporting more than one camera at once is only available while viewing multiple cameras.

  5. Submit the export.

     

• A download link is emailed to the address associated with the user currently signed in. A multi-camera export arrives as a single email containing a separate link for each camera. Most exports arrive shortly, but larger requests can take up to 15 minutes to process.

  

• The download link remains available for thirty days. You can also share the link with people who do not use ButterflyMX, such as law enforcement personnel. 
• If the selected range overlaps a gap in recordings, the export completes with a Partial status and contains only the footage that exists.

Review past exports

• Select Exports to open a log of export requests for the property.

  

• For each request, the log displays the time range, camera, file size, status, who requested it, and when the download expires.
• Status values are:
  1. Complete: the full range was exported
  2. Partial: part of the range fell in a gap, and only available footage was exported
  3. No footage: no recordings existed for the range
• You can download an export again or copy its link to share, until the request expires after 30 days from creation.
