Context:
If you are trying to update the phone number on your ButterflyMX account but are not receiving the verification code (OTP), there are a few common reasons this may happen.
Check the Phone Number You Entered
Make sure the phone number you entered is correct and capable of receiving text messages. If the number is incorrect, update it and request the verification code again.
Check for Blocked Numbers
Your phone may have accidentally blocked one of the ButterflyMX sending numbers. Please check your blocked contacts list and make sure the following numbers are not blocked:
96627
+1 (866) 940-4740
+1 (916) 459-2373
+1 (866) 515-6272
If any of these numbers are blocked, unblock them and try requesting the verification code again.
Check Your Device and Network
Sometimes verification messages can fail due to temporary issues such as:
Network connectivity problems
SMS delivery delays from your mobile carrier
Device settings preventing SMS delivery
Wait a few minutes and request the verification code again.
Using a or Landline a Number That Cannot Receive SMS
Verification codes are sent by text message. If you are trying to use a landline or a number that cannot receive SMS messages, the verification process cannot be completed.
In this case, your property manager will need to update your phone number directly in the ButterflyMX system.
No Longer Have Access to the Old Phone Number
If you no longer have access to the old phone number on your ButterflyMX account, you will not be able to receive the verification code required to update the number through the app.
Because the verification code is used to confirm that you own the phone number, the phone number cannot be changed in the app without completing this step.
Please contact your property manager so they can update your phone number directly in the ButterflyMX system.
If the Issue Continues
If you still cannot receive the verification code after trying the steps above, please contact your property manager. They are able to update your phone number on your account without requiring SMS verification.
