Context
With iOS 26, you can add the ButterflyMX widget to Apple CarPlay and unlock your door or gate from your car's screen. CarPlay uses the small ButterflyMX widget, which shows one access point. To use more than one entrance, add a widget for each one.
Add the Widget to CarPlay
You set up CarPlay widgets on your iPhone, not on your car's screen. Your iPhone needs iOS 26 or later and the latest version of the ButterflyMX mobile app.
- On your iPhone, open Settings, then tap General, then CarPlay.
- Under My Cars, tap your car.
- Tap Widgets, then tap Add Widget.
- Search for ButterflyMX and select it.
- Tap Add Widget.
- Tap the info button next to the ButterflyMX widget.
- If you use ButterflyMX at more than one property, select the property for this widget.
- Tap Add New Item and choose the access point you want this widget to unlock.
Unlock From Your Car
On your car's CarPlay screen, go to your widgets and find the ButterflyMX widget. It shows your property and the name of the access point.
Tap Unlock. The button turns green and shows Unlocked when the access point opens.
