If your building uses both ButterflyMX and Stratis, you can connect the two apps to manage your front door access — including receiving video calls from the intercom and sharing Virtual Keys with guests — all from within the Stratis app.
This article explains what the integration does, what you'll need, and how to set it up.
What You Can Do With the Integration
Once connected, the Stratis app gives you access to the following ButterflyMX features:
✅ Receive video calls from your building's ButterflyMX intercom
✅ Unlock your building's front door remotely from the Stratis app
✅ Create Virtual Keys for guests, so they can access the building entrance without you needing to buzz them in
What's not included in this integrationThe following features are not available through the Stratis app integration and require opening the ButterflyMX app directly:Swipe to OpenDoor PIN entryDelivery PassesUnit-level door access (your apartment lock) is managed by Stratis separately and is not part of the ButterflyMX integration.
Before You Start
Make sure the following are in place before connecting the apps:
Your building must have both ButterflyMX and Stratis installed and active. Contact your property manager if you're unsure.
You must have a ButterflyMX account. Check your email for a ButterflyMX registration invitation from your property — you'll need to complete that registration first.
You must have a Stratis account and the Stratis app installed on your phone.
You should also have the ButterflyMX app installed — you'll still need it to access features not available through the Stratis integration.
How to Connect ButterflyMX to Your Stratis App
Open the Stratis app on your phone and log in to your account.
Navigate to the Integrations section within the app.
Select ButterflyMX from the list of available integrations.
A ButterflyMX login prompt will appear. Enter your ButterflyMX email address and password.
When prompted, tap Allow to grant the Stratis app access to your ButterflyMX account.
That's it — the integration is now active. You'll be able to receive video calls, open the front door, and create Virtual Keys directly from the Stratis app.
Keep both the ButterflyMX and Stratis apps installed on your device. The ButterflyMX app is still needed for features like Swipe to Open and Delivery Passes.
How Virtual Keys Work With Stratis
When you create a guest pass in the Stratis app, it automatically generates a ButterflyMX Virtual Key. Your guest will receive a link that lets them access the building's front door — no app download required on their end.
Virtual Keys generated this way work the same as ones created directly in the ButterflyMX app. You can also continue to create and manage Virtual Keys in the ButterflyMX app at any time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Swipe to Open from the Stratis app? No. Swipe to Open is not available through the Stratis integration. To use Swipe to Open, open the ButterflyMX app directly.
Will my Virtual Key PIN unlock my apartment door? No. ButterflyMX Virtual Keys created through the Stratis app are for building entrance / front door access only. Unit-level (apartment) door access is managed separately by Stratis. Please contact your property manager or Stratis support for questions about unit door access.
I don't see ButterflyMX in the Stratis integrations list. What should I do? Your building may not have the integration enabled yet. Contact your property manager to confirm that both ButterflyMX and Stratis are set up and that the integration has been activated for your property.

I connected the apps but I'm not receiving video calls in Stratis. What should I do?
Try the following steps:
Make sure your ButterflyMX account is active and you can log in to the ButterflyMX app successfully.
In the Stratis app, go to Integrations, disconnect ButterflyMX, and reconnect it by going through the login steps again.
If the issue continues, contact your property manager or reach out to ButterflyMX support at help.butterflymx.com.
Do I still need the ButterflyMX app? Yes. The Stratis integration covers a subset of ButterflyMX features. You'll still need the ButterflyMX app for Swipe to Open, Door PIN, Delivery Passes, and other features. We recommend keeping both apps installed.
