Overview
Starting 10/28/2026, you can update the firmware of a dormakaba Saffire EVO LZ lock directly from the Lyazon Utility App — no call to dormakaba and no appointment needed. The update runs between the Lyazon cloud and the lock.
Before You Start
| Requirement | Detail |
| Lyazon Utility App | v2.2.0 or later, iOS or Android |
| Lock status | Fully commissioned |
| Operating mode | Online mode, connected to Wi‑Fi |
| Wi‑Fi signal | ‑70 dBm or better at the device details screen (check before updating) |
How to Update
- Open the lock's device details — from the site's device list, or by connecting over Bluetooth.
- If the firmware row shows Update available, tap Update firmware.
- Tap UPDATE to confirm.
That's it — you can leave the screen, work on another lock, or close the app. The update continues on its own.
What You'll See
- Update available — a newer firmware exists; the button is active.
- Update in progress — update is running; other actions on this lock are greyed out until it finishes.
- Latest version — lock is up to date, nothing to do. (Note: the app shows only the main firmware version — "Latest version" in green confirms success even if the update touched another lock component.)
Good to Know
- One lock at a time — bulk/site-wide updates aren't available yet.
- An update always goes to the latest version — there's no way to roll back.
- Once started, an update can't be cancelled.
- Duration: up to 15 minutes, depending on how much needs updating.
At the Door During the Update
Residents keep using PIN/fob credentials as usual, except for a few seconds during the main firmware update while the lock reboots. They'll see yellow and blue flashes during that window.
If Something Goes Wrong
- Confirm the lock has a good Wi‑Fi signal (‑70 dBm or better) before updating.
- If the update fails or can't reach the lock due to a network problem, the status reverts to Update available within 30 minutes. Check the lock's Wi‑Fi connection and signal, then tap Update firmware again.
- If the lock won't come online at all, that's a connectivity issue, not a firmware issue — run the standard keypad checks (**5#, **1#, **8#) first. See [How to Troubleshoot Your dormakaba EVO Online Smart Lock].
