Context
Properties with more than one entrance need to plan gateway placement around their network layout, not just the number of cameras. This article explains the constraint and how to plan around it.
The rule to plan around
One AI Camera Gateway supports up to 10 cameras, which can be a mix of LPR and standard cameras. However, every camera and the controller must be on the same local network as the gateway. Camera count is not the only limit. Network layout is.
This means:

What to confirm at each entrance
- Hard-wired Ethernet with at least 6 Mbps of dedicated bandwidth per camera.
- A location for the gateway that is weatherproof and secure.
- Whether the entrance shares a network with any other entrance.
Planning notes
- Count cameras per network, not per property. Two gates with four cameras each on separate networks need two gateways, even though eight cameras would fit on one.
- Entrance and exit lanes at the same gate typically share a network and count toward the same gateway.
- If you plan to add cameras later, factor that into gateway placement now.
