Context
Some properties want a searchable record of every vehicle entering and leaving without using license plate recognition to open the gate. This is a supported configuration. This article explains how it works and what to expect.
How it works
The hardware is identical to a standard LPR installation, including the two-door controller. The controller is what creates the event record in Door Releases, so it is required even when it is not opening anything. The difference is that the controller is not wired to the relay, so no gate or door is triggered by a plate read.
Every vehicle that passes the camera is still captured and logged with the plate read, a snapshot, a one minute video clip, a timestamp, and the access point.
Two ways to handle the log

About the release status: The controller still makes an access decision on every read, even though it is not wired to open anything. An authorized vehicle logs as unlocked because it was approved, not because a gate moved. An unauthorized vehicle logs as denied. If you maintain a list of resident vehicles, you can filter by release status to separate known vehicles from everyone else.

- Search Door Releases by full or partial license plate.
- Filter Door Releases to license plate events only.
- View the captured image and video for any event.
- Search a plate across access points to see where and when a vehicle was seen.
- Filter by release status to separate authorized vehicles from unknown ones.
