Context

Gated communities often watch entry lanes live from a guard house while creating visitor passes. This article covers how to set up camera views for that workflow using camera groups and Live Monitor.

Create camera groups for each gate

Groups are the best option for properties with multiple gates, or when several people need the same view.

1. From the main menu, go to Services > Cameras.
2. Click New Group.
3. Give the group a name, for example Gate 1, Gate 2, or Back Gate.
4. Select the checkbox next to each camera you want in the group. A group can mix LPR and standard cameras, so a gate group might include the LPR camera plus the overview cameras covering that lane.
5. Repeat for each gate.

Groups are shared property wide. Once a group is created, anyone who can view the property's cameras can select it. A guard does not need to build their own view, and a new staff member sees the same groups as everyone else.

Use groups in Live Monitor

1. From the main menu, go to Services > Cameras.
2. Click Live Monitor in the top right.
3. Select the group for that gate. All cameras in the group load at once.

There is no need to rebuild a view at the start of each shift. If a guard needs a combination that does not match an existing group, they can still select cameras individually.

Looking up a plate while creating a pass

Guards can keep Door Releases filtered to license plate events on one screen, then copy a captured plate and paste it into the visitor pass they are creating. This avoids retyping the plate from the video feed.

Planning for multiple monitors

• One Live Monitor session per user at a time. A property using several monitors from one workstation will need a separate browser session, and typically a separate user login, for each monitor. Sessions must be reopened after each sign in.
• Full screen multi view is only available in the active Live Monitor session. Individual camera streams can be opened full screen in separate browser tabs.
