Context
If your property has Front Desk Station, license plate recognition is built into the staff workflow. Staff can issue vehicle enabled passes, look up vehicles, and verify who a parked car belongs to without switching to the ButterflyMX OS.
What staff can do
Issue a visitor pass with vehicle access
Create a visitor pass in Front Desk Station and include the guest's license plate and state. That vehicle receives automatic access for the duration of the pass, the same as a pass issued from the ButterflyMX OS.
Print a pass that includes the plate
If your property issues physical printed passes, the printed pass includes the visitor's license plate details whenever vehicle information has been entered.
Look up a vehicle
Staff can search the visitor log and guest list by full or partial plate number, and can view a resident's authorized vehicles from their profile. See How to search for a vehicle for the full workflow.
Good to know
- Vehicle information cannot be edited on a pass after it is created. If the wrong plate was entered, remove that visitor and add them again, or create a new pass.
- Whoever issued the pass receives a notification when the visitor's vehicle is recognized at the gate.
- Visitor license plate access must be enabled in Property Settings > Access Settings for vehicle fields to appear.
