Context:
Occasionally, you may encounter a hardware or software issue with the intercom that requires you to power cycle (reboot) it. The following article walks you through two ways you can do this.
What to do:
Option 1: Unplug the Intercom from the Outlet
- Locate the Outlet: Identify where the intercom is plugged in, typically found in the electrical room or an IDF closet. If the location is unclear, you may need to consult your maintenance team or the original installer.
- Unplug the Intercom: Disconnect the intercom from the outlet.
Important: After unplugging the intercom, please verify that all the lights on the intercom itself are turned off. Keep in mind that most intercoms are directly connected to the UPS (battery backup), so make sure you haven’t accidentally unplugged the wrong power supply, as ours looks similar to those used for other low-voltage devices
- Wait: Leave the intercom unplugged for 5 minutes before reconnecting it.
Option 2: Unplug the Intercom from the Power Source at the Device
- Access the Power Jack: You'll need to remove the intercom from its mount on the wall or pedestal using a security key to access the I/O Ports cover.
- Disconnect the Power: Unscrew and disconnect the power jack.
- Wait: Allow the intercom to remain disconnected for 5 minutes.
- Reconnect the Power: Securely reconnect the power jack.
