Context:
If you're experiencing issues with your Yale Assure Lock's Wi-Fi connectivity, here's a summary of troubleshooting steps recommended by Yale:
Initial setup troubleshooting
Check Bluetooth: Ensure your iOS or Android device has Bluetooth on and you are within a few feet of the lock during setup.
Verify Wi-Fi band: The Yale Assure Lock 2 only works with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. Make sure your building Wi-Fi has an available 2.4 GHz band and not just a 5 GHz or 6 GHz network. You may need to separate the 2.4 GHz band if your Wi-Fi combines all wireless radio names.
Follow in-app prompts: The Yale Access app provides guided steps to connect your lock to Wi-Fi. Ensure you follow these prompts accurately.
Lock Wi-Fi fell offline
-
Reboot the lock:
Slide up the battery cover.
Remove and reinsert a battery.
Ensure the lock powers back up (this may take a couple of minutes for the Wi-Fi module to reconnect).
Test Wi-Fi connectivity: Temporarily disable Bluetooth on your phone and try to connect to the lock using the Yale Access app. If you can establish a connection and see a Wi-Fi icon in the app, it indicates successful Wi-Fi connection.
Wi-Fi smart module communication error
Reseat the module: To address communication errors with the Wi-Fi smart module, remove one battery, wait 10 seconds, and then reinsert the Yale Access module before replacing the battery.
-
Factory reset (if necessary): If reseating the module doesn't resolve the issue, a factory reset may be required, which will remove user codes and reset settings. The steps involve removing batteries, accessing the reset button under the interior escutcheon, and holding the button while reinstalling batteries.
Please note: If you perform a factory reset, you will need to add ButterflyMX as an owner to the lock again (it will default to guest access) and call our Support Team to complete the integration.
Poor signal levels
Check signal levels: You can check the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signal strength (RSSI) within the lock's settings in the Yale Access app.
Improve signal: If signal levels are low, consider moving your router closer to the lock or using a Wi-Fi extender for a better Wi-Fi signal. For a stronger Bluetooth signal, try relocating the Yale Connect Bridge.
