Context
Delivery PINS allow you to create unique access PINs for carriers who frequent your building. You can change these PINs at any time.
- Disclaimer: Door PINs are meant for larger carriers that frequent your property (think: UPS, USPS, FedEx). For smaller carriers, we recommend a one time PIN that can created by the resident in their mobile app, called a Delivery Pass.
Prerequisites
- You must have ButterflyMX at your property
- You must be a property admin in the ButterflyMX OS to create Delivery PINs
How to create Delivery PINs
- Open the ButterflyMX OS and click ‘Delivery Authorizations’
-
From your admin account, click on ‘Delivery Authorizations’ on the left side of the screen.
-
-
Hit ‘+New delivery authorization’
- Fill in the New Delivery Authorization form
Once you click 'New Delivery Authorization,' a form will appear with the following fields:- Description — Add a name to identify this PIN (e.g., "USPS," "FedEx," "Amazon"). Since these PINs will be used for package carriers and vendors, a clear description helps differentiate between them.
- PIN — Enter the unique PIN code you want to assign to this carrier or vendor.
-
Delivery Times — Set a schedule for when the delivery authorization will be usable to unlock the doors.
- If no schedule is set, the delivery authorization will always be usable with no time or date limitations.
- To restrict access hours, set a From and To time window, and select the applicable Days.
- You can check 'Delivery allowed all day' to permit access at any time on the selected days.
- Use 'Add Schedule' to add multiple time windows, or 'Remove' to delete an existing one.
- Hit 'Save' at the bottom
- Please keep in mind that if you need to change or delete the delivery PIN at any time, you can do so by hitting the three dots on the left side of the previously created one and choosing the option 'Edit' or 'Delete'.
If you have changed the delivery PIN, please inform the package carrier or vendor of their new
PIN.
- Let the package carrier or vendor know what their PIN is
- You’ll need to let that package carrier or vendor know what their PIN is so that when they arrive at the building, they will be able to access the building by clicking the delivery button on the intercom.

- The carrier enters the PIN at the intercom
- When a package carrier or vendor clicks on the Delivery button, they will have the option to 'Enter Delivery PIN' or 'Search Directory.
- If they have a PIN, they will need to enter the one you provided and hit 'Enter'.
- Once confirmed, the door will be released.
- The carrier hit 'Search Delivery'
- If they do not have a PIN, they can select 'Search Directory' to find and click on the name and press 'Call' to call the resident directly.
