What’s in the Box
- QUWireless Cube enclosure with integrated antennas.
- Internal mounting bracket for Teltonika RUT241.
- Teltonika RUT241 Cellular Router (installed inside the enclosure)
- Pre‑terminated RF pigtail cables (usually 3: 2× LTE, 1× Wi‑Fi).
- Cable gland(s) for Ethernet.
- Mast/wall mounting bracket and U‑bolts or screws.
- Passive PoE conversion hardware (installed inside the enclosure).
Pre‑Installation Checklist
- Confirm the kit is labeled as pre-configured and the SIM is installed. If the router is not labeled or the SIM is missing, stop and contact ButterflyMX Support before installation.
- Confirm the passive PoE conversion hardware and its power supply are included in the kit.
- Outdoor‑rated Ethernet cable (Cat5e/Cat6) of appropriate length.
- Suitable installation site (mast or wall surface) near the desired coverage area.
Step 1 – Open Enclosure and Prepare Glands
- Remove the top lid of the outdoor enclosure by loosening the four corner screws; set the lid aside
- Identify the Ethernet cable entry on the bottom or side of the enclosure. Separate the cable gland into the outer cap, rubber sealing insert, threaded gland body, and inner locknut; install the gland body through the opening and tighten the inner locknut.
- Ensure the rubber grommet is seated correctly to maintain IP67 seal
Step 2 – Mount and Connect the RUT241 Inside
- Place the RUT241 on the internal mounting bracket and secure it with the supplied mounting screws.
- Connect RF pigtails:
- Connect both silver-marked cables to the RUT241 LTE MAIN and AUX ports.
- Connect the gold-marked cable to the RUT241 Wi-Fi antenna port. Wi-Fi is optional for normal operation, but connect it when the cable is present.
- Seat each SMA connector by hand, then lightly snug it with the included SMA wrench. Do not over-tighten.
- Connect the RUT241 LAN1 port to the included passive PoE converter inside the enclosure. Connect the outdoor Ethernet cable from the converter through the cable gland.
Step 3 – Close Enclosure
- Route the Ethernet cable through the cable gland; tighten the gland nut to strain‑relief and seal
- Arrange cables so nothing is pinched under the lid; maintain gentle bends.
- Reinstall the cellular enclosure lid and tighten all four screws evenly to preserve the gasket seal (IP67).
Step 4 – Attach Mounting Bracket
- Fix the steel mounting bracket to the rear of the cellular enclosure using the supplied hex screws.
- Verify the bracket is fully seated and all supplied fasteners are tight.
Step 5 – Install on Mast or Wall
- For mast mounting, place the cellular enclosure against the mast and secure the bracket using the supplied U‑bolts and nuts; keep the enclosure vertical so the front radiating surface faces the coverage area.
- For wall mounting, anchor the bracket using appropriate wall anchors/bolts.
- Position the cellular enclosure as high as practical with clear line‑of‑sight to the cellular tower and to the ButterflyMX equipment area; avoid large metal structures directly in front of the antenna.
Step 6 – Power and Network
- At the indoor end of the Ethernet run, connect the cable to the power source supplied with the kit, following the labels on the supplied PoE conversion hardware. Do not substitute an unapproved PoE injector or switch.
- Connect the supplied power hardware’s LAN/data port to the local switch or directly to the designated ButterflyMX network segment.
- Apply power to the supplied power hardware; wait 2–5 minutes for the RUT241 to boot and register on LTE, then check the router LEDs.
Step 7 – Verification & Aiming
- Verify the RUT241 Power LED is on, the Mobile/LTE LED is on or blinking, and the signal LEDs show reception.
- Using a laptop connected to the LAN/data side of the supplied power hardware:
- Confirm the laptop receives an IP address.
- Open a public website and run a ping test to confirm internet access.
- Record the router serial number and LED status, then contact ButterflyMX Support to confirm the router is online in RMS and review signal quality. Reposition the enclosure if Support reports weak signal.
