Context:
Access points are entry locations on your property controlled by ButterflyMX hardware, such as intercoms, keypads, or access controllers. This guide will help you understand how to manage and configure your access points effectively.
What Are Access Points? 🚪
Access points represent any location on your property controlled by one of the relays, whether it's a ButterflyMX intercom, keypad, or access controller. They can represent:
- A single door (like an entryway, gate, or exit)
- Multiple doors (like a front entrance and vestibule)
- Amenity spaces (gym, pool, package room)
- Vehicle entry points

- Update the label to something descriptive and logical
- Examples: "East Car Gate", "2nd Street Entrance", "Lobby Elevator West"

Setting Open Hours ⏰
You can configure automatic unlock schedules for specific access points:
- Click on the access point you want to configure
- Scroll down to find the Open Hours section
- Set up a schedule for when this door should remain unlocked automatically
- Configure specific days and times as needed
Example Use Cases:
- Leasing office doors open 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday
- Amenity spaces with restricted hours
- Common areas that should remain accessible during business hours
Managing Entry Methods 🔧
For each access point, you can decide which entry methods are available. You can enable or disable this method based on your security preferences and the specific access point's requirements:
- Delivery Pass - One-time, temporary access created by residents for delivery personnel
The following entry methods can be enabled/disabled by ButterflyMX Support:
- Calling - Access via phone call or video call
- Swipe to Open - Mobile app access
- Visitor Pass - Temporary access codes
- Door PINs - Numeric codes
- Delivery Authorizations - Recurring, long-term access for known vendors created by admins for delivery personnel
- Fobs/Cards - Physical access credentials
