Overview
Good news — if your unit has a Resideo smart thermostat integration, you can control your home's temperature right from the ButterflyMX app on your phone. No need to get up off the couch!
This guide walks you through everything you need to know to find, adjust, and make the most of your thermostat in the app!
📌 Note: The thermostat feature is only available if your property has enabled this integration. If you don't see a thermostat option in your app, reach out to your property manager to confirm it's been activated for your unit.
What You'll Need
- The ButterflyMX app installed on your smartphone (iOS / Android)
- An active ButterflyMX account (check your email from registration@butterflymx.com if you haven't registered yet)
- A Resideo T6 Pro or T10 Pro Wi-Fi enabled thermostat installed in your unit
Finding Your Thermostat in the App
- Open the ButterflyMX app on your phone
- Log in with your account credentials
- From the home screen, find the temperature icon in your unit's dashboard
- Your thermostat will appear with a live read of your current room temperature and the current set point
💡 Don't see it? Make sure your app is updated to the latest version. If it's still not showing, contact your property manager — the thermostat may need to be linked to your unit.
Adjusting the Temperature
Changing your temperature is super easy:
- Tap on your thermostat card in the app
- Use the "+" and "–" buttons (or swipe the dial if available) to raise or lower your desired temperature
- The app will send the new set point to your thermostat — changes typically take effect within a few seconds
- Your thermostat display will update to reflect the new target temperature
🌡️ Tip: Give your HVAC system a minute or two to kick in after making a change, especially for larger temperature adjustments.
Switching Between Heat, Cool & Auto Modes
You can also change what mode your thermostat is running in (modes may be model dependent):
- Open your thermostat card in the app
- Look for the Mode selector — if applicable, you'll see options for:
- 🔴 Heat — Heats your unit to the set temperature
- 🔵 Cool — Cools your unit to the set temperature
- 🟢 Auto — Automatically switches between heat and cool based on your set temperature range.
- ⚪ Off — Turns the thermostat system off
- Tap your desired mode to switch
Understanding Temperature Limits
Your property may have set temperature guardrails — minimum and maximum limits — to help manage energy costs across the building. Here's what that means for you:
- You can freely adjust the temperature within the range your property has set
- If you try to go above or below those limits, the app will let you know you've reached the property's allowed range
- This is totally normal and helps keep everyone's utility bills manageable! 💚

- Leaving for the weekend? Set your thermostat to a comfortable "away" temperature right from the app before you go — no need to remember before you walk out the door
- Coming home soon? Pre-cool or pre-heat your unit a few minutes before you arrive so it's perfect when you walk in
- Running hot or cold at night? Adjust your set point from bed without ever getting up 🙌
