- PoE support
- Ruggedized outdoor-rated options or enclosures
- Carrier availability for your region/location
- Carrier flexibility is ideal: AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile
- Cellular carrier coverage may not be available in all areas. Test with the carrier or reach out to solutionsarchitecture@butterflymx.com before committing to a cellular purchase.
Target Recommendations
- Highly recommend an unlimited data plan if possible
- At least Consistent 3–5 Mbps Up/Down
- <100ms Latency
- 99%+ network uptime (carrier SLA or multiple SIM fallback)
- If your cellular module or router supports LTE Cat 4+, that’s a solid starting point.
- If you’re in a weaker signal area, consider external antennas or carrier aggregation (LTE-A) support.
Note: Router maintenance and firmware updates are the responsibility of the router manufacturer, and any issues should be directed to them.
